Morocco’s Atlas Lions secured their third straight TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON championship with an impressive 5-1 win over Angola in the final.
The sold-out Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall witnessed history as Hicham Dguig’s team joined Egypt as the only nations to win the continental title three times.
Goals from Soufiane Borite, Bilal Bakkali, Anas El Ayyane, Idriss Raiss El Fenni, and captain Soufiane El Mesrar sealed the victory for Morocco in front of their passionate supporters.
The hosts started strongly, with chances from El Mesrar and Soufian Charraoui, before Borite opened the scoring after 6 minutes.
Angola equalized through Aderito Santo, but Morocco regained the lead with Raiss El Fenni’s goal before halftime.
El Mesrar extended the lead just before the break, and late goals from El Ayyane and Bakkali sealed the win for the Atlas Lions. Morocco, Angola, and Libya will represent Africa at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan later this year.
