The Black Stars, Ghana’s senior national football team, held a recovery training session which was opened for fans and journalist at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday.
The team will continue training today at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, the venue for Monday’s crucial match.
The Black Stars arrived in Kumasi early yesterday morning, at 1:30 am, via ASKY Airlines at the Nana Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport. Their journey to the World Cup, which is to be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico in 2026, has been a mix of fortunes so far. In Group I of the qualifiers, Ghana has secured one win and suffered one loss in their first two matches.
The campaign commenced on a positive note with a 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi. However, the lost 1-0 to Comoros in Moroni. On Thursday evening, the Black Stars managed to defeat Mali 2-1 in an away game. The goals were scored by Ernest Nuamah in the 58th minute and Jordan Ayew in the 90+4 minute at the Stade du 26 Mars.
Currently, Ghana is positioned third in Group I after a 2-1 Madagascar win over Comoros on Friday. The team is hoping to secure a victory in their next game against the Central African Republic to significantly enhance their chances of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.
