Former Goldfields striker Shaibu Yakubu, once the top scorer in the Ghana Premier League, has now taken up a new role as a mason. The former football star made this revelation via a post on his Facebook page, sharing an image of himself working in his new profession.
Yakubu was the top scorer of the 2003 Ghana Premier League season, where he netted 13 goals playing for Obuasi Goldfields. His remarkable performance that year saw him outshine the likes of Asamoah Gyan and Kwadwo Opoku ‘Mahala,’ who followed closely behind him on the top scorer’s list.
Having once dazzled fans with his goal-scoring prowess, Shaibu’s transition into masonry has come as a surprise to many. Nevertheless, the former footballer seems proud of his new journey, as evidenced by his recent post.
Fans and former colleagues have reacted with admiration for Yakubu’s hard work and adaptability, wishing him success in his new line of work.
