Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi has called for greater support for Black Stars coach Otto Addo, emphasizing that the technical team needs more resources and backing to succeed in their role.
Speaking in an interview with Hot FM, Nyantakyi highlighted the challenges facing the national team’s technical bench and urged all stakeholders, including the GFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to step up their support for the head coach.
“Otto Addo is a capable coach, but he cannot do it all alone. Coaching the Black Stars is a high-pressure job that requires not only a strong technical team but also robust support from all stakeholders,” Nyantakyi said.
He pointed out that beyond tactics and game strategies, the team’s success hinges on adequate resources, structured planning, and collaboration among all involved. “The technical team must have the tools and environment to deliver results,” he added.
Nyantakyi’s comments come at a time when the Black Stars’ technical team, led by Otto Addo, has been under scrutiny following recent challenges, including failure to qualify for major tournaments and delays in fulfilling financial obligations to the team.
“Otto Addo has the potential to bring out the best in the Black Stars, but he needs help. It’s time for everyone to come together and provide the necessary resources and encouragement to make the national team successful,” Nyantakyi reiterated.
The former GFA President also called on the players, fans, and media to rally behind the coach and the team, stressing the importance of unity in achieving success at the international level.
As the Black Stars gear up for upcoming competitions, Nyantakyi’s remarks serve as a reminder of the collective effort required to restore the team’s glory on the global stage.
