Hohoe United have made history by earning promotion to the Ghana Premier League for the first time, following a commanding 3-1 victory over Inter Allies on the penultimate weekend of the Division One League Zone III season.
The win—Hohoe United’s fifth consecutive triumph—sealed their position at the top of the league table, with one match remaining against Great Olympics. This remarkable achievement brings pride to the Volta Region, as the newly established club prepares to compete at the highest level of Ghanaian football.
Hohoe United emerged on the national scene in 2023 after the acquisition of Liberty Professionals’ Division One slot by a group led by Hohoe MP Hon. John-Peter Amewu. The Ghana Football Association officially sanctioned the name change and transfer of ownership following the submission of all required legal documentation, granting Hohoe United full rights and responsibilities of the defunct Liberty Professionals.
In their debut campaign under the new identity, Hohoe United have dazzled with an impressive display of organized, consistent football. The team has secured 22 wins in 29 matches—an outstanding record that left their closest challengers, Port City, unable to keep pace after dropping points against True Democracy.
Their rapid rise has electrified supporters across the Volta Region and beyond. For the first time in history, Hohoe United will represent the region in the Premier League, ushering in a new chapter filled with promise and opportunity.
The club’s debut in Ghana’s top-flight division is eagerly anticipated and is expected to bring fresh energy and regional representation to the national football stage.
