Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, has described the newly launched partnership between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Adesa Productions Limited (APL) as a transformative step in the future of Ghanaian football.
Speaking at the unveiling event in Accra, the Minister emphasized that the partnership is more than just a media rights agreement. “What we are launching today is not just a media production contract, but a strategic re-engineering of how football is financed, structured and marketed in Ghana,” Hon. Adams said.
He underscored the significance of this development in the broader context of the Ministry’s new approach to sports governance, which aims to make sports a commercially driven and self-sustaining industry. “This aligns with a broader strategy to leverage private sector investment to transform sports — especially football, which remains our national passion,” he added.
The partnership is expected to reshape how Ghanaian football is consumed, both locally and globally, through improved broadcast quality, expanded content creation, and commercial visibility for all stakeholders involved in the game.
Hon. Adams expressed optimism that the GFA-Adesa model will inspire similar innovative collaborations across the sports sector, reducing the historical overreliance on government subventions.
He reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen governance, promote youth development, and elevate the commercial appeal of Ghanaian sports.
