The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the Division One League by maintaining last season’s comprehensive support package for all 48 participating clubs — with a significant increase in the cash incentive for the upcoming season.
In addition to the payment of full refereeing fees for all clubs to the tune of GHS2.5m, the package includes the supply of football boots, provision of footballs, buses for clubs, a GH₵5,000 Melcom shopping voucher, and GH₵15,000 worth of fuel coupons.
Highlighting the GFA’s dedication to easing the operational burden on clubs, the cash incentive has been increased from GH₵80,000 to GH₵120,000 per club. This increase is aimed at helping teams improve their logistics, welfare, and overall performance in the league.
“The GFA remains committed to the Division One League, maintaining last season’s support: payment of full refereeing fees for all 48 clubs, supply of football boots, provision of footballs, provision of buses for clubs, GH₵5,000 voucher for shopping at Melcom, supply of GH₵15,000 worth of fuel coupons to all 20 clubs and the cash incentive of GH₵80,000 increased to GH₵120,000,” the Association stated.
The move has been widely welcomed by club administrators, players, and fans, who believe this renewed support will strengthen the league’s competitiveness and enhance player development across the country.
With these measures in place, expectations are high that the 2025/26 Division One League season will produce exciting football and prepare clubs for the top tier of Ghana football.
