Ghana’s Parliament has sanctioned a budget of GH¢150 million to facilitate the Black Stars’ preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The disclosure was made by Ernest Norgbey, Chairman of the Select Committee on Sports, who indicated that the financial package is intended to ensure the national team undertakes adequate planning ahead of the global showpiece.
The Ghana national football team are gearing up for what will be their fifth appearance at the World Cup. The 2026 tournament will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana have been placed in Group L, where they are set to battle Panama national football team, England national football team and Croatia national football team for a place in the knockout rounds.
While the specific breakdown of the approved funds has not been made public, officials say the allocation will cover essential aspects of preparation, including logistics, training camps and international friendlies.
As part of their build-up programme, Ghana are reportedly lining up preparatory matches against the Germany national football team and the Austria national football team during the next international window.
The Black Stars will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17, 2026, before facing England on June 23 and wrapping up their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
