Head coach Kasim Ocansey Mingle has admitted that Swedru All Blacks only have themselves to blame after falling to a narrow defeat against Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League.
The Matchday 23 encounter at the AAK II Sports Stadium in Ampain ended 1-0 in favour of the hosts, boosting Holy Stars’ hopes of avoiding relegation. Jacob Boazee proved decisive for the Nzema-based side, converting from the spot just after the hour mark to settle a tightly contested fixture.
Despite the loss, Mingle formerly in charge of Bechem United and Nations FC, felt his side did enough to walk away with maximum points but were let down by poor finishing in the final third.
According to the experienced tactician, the contest was evenly matched, yet his players failed to make their dominance count.
“We had control in key moments and created the clearer opportunities,” he noted after the game. “Unfortunately, we lacked the cutting edge in front of goal. They didn’t fashion many real chances, but they took theirs from the penalty. That made the difference.”
The result lifts Holy Stars further clear of immediate danger, while All Blacks remain locked in the relegation scrap as the fight for survival intensifies heading into the final stretch of the season.
