Kofi Adams Unveils GHS 146m Budget for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup Campaign

Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has unveiled a proposed budget of GHS 146,268,659.80 to support the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The amount, which is a little under $14 million, is expected to finance the national team’s full campaign at the global tournament. Officials say the allocation will take care of pre-tournament preparations, including training camps, international travel, accommodation, player bonuses, remuneration for the technical team, and other essential operational costs tied to the competition.

Ghana have been placed in Group L and will kick off their World Cup journey against Panama on June 17. They will then take on England on June 23 before concluding their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27.

The Black Stars will be aiming to make a stronger impression this time around after back-to-back exits at the group stage in recent tournaments.

With renewed focus and financial backing in place, the team hopes to advance deeper into the competition.

The 2026 edition of the World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time the tournament will be staged across three nations.
