Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has paid glowing tribute to Gianni Infantino
as the football world marks the latter’s 10th anniversary as President of FIFA.
The CAF Second Vice President commended Infantino for what he described as a decade of dedicated leadership and unwavering commitment to the global development of football, with particular emphasis on Africa and Ghana.
In a video shared on his official Facebook page, Okraku praised the FIFA President for his enormous contribution to the growth of the game, highlighting increased investment, expanded competitions and enhanced support for member associations. He expressed gratitude to Infantino for what he termed his consistent backing of Ghana football and African football at large.
Infantino was elected FIFA President on 26 February 2016, succeeding Sepp Blatter, who resigned following a major corruption scandal. Prior to his election, Infantino served as General Secretary of UEFA.
Over the past decade, Infantino’s tenure has been marked by significant reforms and expansion within world football, including the enlargement of major tournaments and increased financial support to member associations through development programmes.
Currently serving his third term in office, Infantino’s mandate is set to run until 2027.
Okraku reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with FIFA leadership to further advance the development of football in Ghana and across the African continent, expressing optimism about continued collaboration in the years ahead.
