Ghanaian playmaker Augustine Boakye delivered a masterclass in creativity as Saint-Étienne cruised to an emphatic 3-0 victory over Pau on the road in Ligue 2.
Operating from his preferred No.10 position, Boakye was at the heart of everything positive for Les Verts and crowned a fine individual display with a beautifully weighted assist for Lucas Stassin’s second goal of the evening.
The visitors wasted no time asserting their authority. Just three minutes into the contest, Stassin latched onto a precise pass from Irvin Cardona and calmly slotted home to hand Saint-Étienne an early advantage.
Although Pau enjoyed spells of possession in their attempt to claw their way back, they struggled to cope with Saint-Étienne’s sharp counter-attacks. The decisive moment arrived in the 64th minute when Boakye threaded a perfectly timed through ball into Stassin’s path. The forward made no mistake, doubling the lead and firmly shifting the momentum in the visitors’ favour.
Saint-Étienne put the result beyond doubt deep into stoppage time. Boakye was once again instrumental in the build-up before Joshua Duffus applied the finishing touch in the 90+4th minute to complete a commanding performance away from home.
Boakye’s growing influence has been a major boost for Saint-Étienne this season. In the 2025/26 Ligue 2 campaign, the Ghanaian midfielder has contributed five goals and seven assists, underlining his importance as a creative force in the side.
Les Verts will now switch attention to their next league assignment, an away fixture against Red Star on Saturday, March 7, as they look to maintain their impressive run of form.
