Ibrahim Danlad Confident Black Stars Will Shine at 2026 Mundial

Former Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad has expressed strong belief in the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the squad has the quality to make a meaningful impact at the tournament.

The Black Stars, who will compete at the global showpiece hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, are aiming to bounce back from successive group-stage exits in 2014 and 2022.

Danlad, who was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 Mundial in Qatar, remains optimistic that the current generation can deliver a different outcome this time.

“Every qualified team has the potential to make history, and Ghana is no different,” he told 3Sports.

He emphasised the importance of national support, urging fans to rally behind the players selected for the competition.

“The team just needs our support, prayers, and encouragement for every player who earns a spot in the final squad,” Danlad said.

The shot-stopper is confident that with unity and belief, the team can rise to the challenge.

“I am very confident that the team will make both Ghana and themselves proud,” he added.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L, where they will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 before facing England on June 23. They will wrap up their group fixtures against Croatia on June 27, as they seek a long-awaited run beyond the first round.
