The Black Queens have maintained their strong form at the Pink Ladies Cup, recording a comfortable 4-0 win over Russia to keep their perfect start to the competition alive as they sharpen preparations for the upcoming WAFCON tournament.
Ghana stamped their authority early in the match, needing only eight minutes to open the scoring when U.S.-based midfielder Stella Nyamekye fired home a powerful effort from inside the penalty area to give the Black Queens the lead.
The advantage was doubled in the 17th minute as Doris Boaduwaa unleashed a stunning long-range strike following a quick counterattack. Boaduwaa completed her brace in the 33rd minute with a composed finish, securing her third goal of the tournament and putting the game beyond Russia’s reach before the interval.
After the restart, the Black Queens continued creating scoring opportunities but managed just one additional goal. Substitute Ajegipina Zakaria made an impact late in the game, finding the net two minutes before full time to wrap up the emphatic victory.
The result means Ghana has won both of its opening matches in the tournament, scoring eight goals without conceding any so far, following their earlier 4-0 triumph over Hong Kong.
The team’s performances highlight their growing sharpness and confidence as they fine-tune their squad ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco later this month. Ghana will play their final Pink Ladies Cup match on March 6 against Tanzania.
