Bellamy’s Wales to Host Ghana in Historic Summer Friendly

Wales will welcome African opposition for the first time in their history when they host Ghana in a summer international friendly. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, 2 June, at Cardiff City Stadium, with the exact kick-off time yet to be confirmed.

The encounter forms part of Wales preparation programme under head coach Craig Bellamy, who is assembling his squad for upcoming challenges.

The fixture carries some historical significance, as Wales have faced only one African team before. Their solitary meeting came in 1998 during a friendly match in Tunisia, where Bellamy himself featured as a striker in a game that ended in a 4–0 defeat.

The upcoming clash therefore offers an opportunity for Wales to measure progress against African football style and quality.

For Ghana, the game will be another step in their preparations after securing qualification for this summer’s World Cup tournament, where they are drawn alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
