Super Sub Forson Amankwah Seals Norwich Comeback in Championship Clash

Ghana midfielder Forson Amankwah emerged as the hero for Norwich City after scoring a late winner in their 2–1 comeback victory over Sheffield United in the EFL Championship on Wednesday night.

The highly-rated midfielder started the match on the bench and was introduced in the closing stages, replacing Ali Ahmed in the 81st minute.

Norwich had earlier fallen behind in the first half when Jairo Riedewald put Sheffield United in front in the 21st minute after receiving an assist from Callum O’Hare.

The home side pushed for a response and eventually restored parity in the 68th minute. Defender Jack Stacey finished off a move created by Jacob Wright to bring Norwich back into the contest.

Just minutes after entering the pitch, Amankwah made an instant impact. The Ghana international connected with a pass from Paris Maghoma and fired home a fine strike in the 84th minute to seal the turnaround for Norwich City.

The result moves Norwich City up to 15th place in the Championship standings as they continue their campaign.

Amankwah, who recently returned from injury, will be aiming to maintain strong performances in the coming months as he pushes for a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
