Nations FC have secured a place in the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup after defeating Berekum Chelsea FC 4-3 on penalties in their quarter-final clash on Sunday.
The encounter at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem ended 0-0 after regulation time and extra time, with both sides failing to find the breakthrough despite creating several chances.
With the deadlock remaining after 120 minutes, the tie was decided through a tense penalty shootout. Nations FC held their nerve from the spot to secure the 4-3 victory and progress to the last four of the competition.
The Abrankese-based club will now face Aduana FC in the semi-finals as they continue their push for glory in Ghana’s biggest domestic cup competition.
The victory keeps Nations FC’s hopes of lifting the FA Cup alive following a closely contested battle against fellow Ghana Premier League side Berekum Chelsea.
