The black queens of Ghana will face either Mauritius women’s national football team or Djibouti women’s national football team in the second round of the African qualifiers for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
The draw, conducted by the Confederation of African Football, granted Ghana a bye from the opening round due to their strong continental ranking, allowing them to enter the race at the second stage.
The Black Queens will now await the winner of the preliminary clash between Mauritius and Djibouti, with the second-round ties scheduled for October 5 to October 13, 2026.
While the bye offers an early advantage, the path to Olympic qualification remains demanding. Ghana will still need to progress through multiple knockout rounds to secure one of Africa’s limited slots at the global tournament.
With their last Olympic appearance dating back to 2004, the Black Queens are determined to end the long absence. Preparations are expected to intensify in the coming months as the technical team builds toward a crucial qualifying campaign.
