Salim Adams Reacts to Maiden Black Stars Call-Up

Salim Adams has expressed his excitement after earning his first-ever call-up to the Ghana national football team ahead of the upcoming international friendly against Mexico.

The Medeama SC midfielder is one of six locally based players selected by new Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Salim has been one of the standout performers in the Ghana Premier League this season, registering 11 goals and one assist. His impressive displays for Medeama have played a key role in the club’s title push and earned him recognition at national team level.

Speaking after the squad announcement, the former Accra Hearts of Oak SC player described the invitation as a major milestone in his career.

“I feel very excited getting Black Stars call-up. It is a very big step for me to keep working hard,” he said.

“I hope to achieve more and get more opportunities outside,” he added.

The midfielder is expected to be part of Ghana’s squad for the friendly against Mexico on May 22 as the Black Stars continue preparations for the World Cup later this year.
