Ghanaian coach Laryea Kingston got off to a flying start at the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations after leading Uganda’s U-17 side to a convincing 3-0 win over DR Congo on Matchday One in Morocco.
Uganda produced a dominant display under the guidance of the former Ghana international, controlling the game with confidence, energy, and attacking intent from start to finish.
The young side looked well-organized tactically and clinical in front of goal.
Owen Mukisa opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Nicholas Kawooya added the second goal on the stroke of halftime to give Uganda a deserved 2-0 lead at the break. The East Africans continued to push forward in the second half, and AbdulShakur Babi wrapped up the impressive victory with a third goal in the 81st minute.
The performance reflected the influence of Ghanaian coach Laryea Kingston, whose leadership and tactical setup played a key role in Uganda’s strong opening performance. His side showed composure defensively while remaining dangerous in attack throughout the encounter.
Following the impressive victory, Uganda will now turn their attention to a crucial clash against Cameroon in their next group game as coach Laryea Kingston aims to continue the team’s strong start in the tournament.
