The Black Maidens of Ghana produced a dominant performance to thrash Liberia 6-0 in the first leg of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana controlled the game from the opening whistle and overwhelmed the visitors with relentless attacking football, putting themselves in a commanding position ahead of the second leg.
After several early chances, the breakthrough finally arrived in the 31st minute when Daniella Abass finished calmly to hand the Maidens a deserved lead before halftime.
The hosts returned from the break with even greater intensity and doubled their advantage in the 53rd minute after Seidatu Wahab converted from the penalty spot.
Linda Achiaa added a third goal just four minutes later with a composed finish before Jessica Appiah struck in the 60th minute to cap another flowing Ghanaian move.
Liberia struggled to cope with Ghana’s pace, movement and pressing throughout the second half as the Black Maidens continued to create opportunities at will.
Priscilla Mensah joined the scoresheet in the 73rd minute before Mavis Yeboah completed the demolition with a late sixth goal to crown a memorable evening for the hosts.
The emphatic victory leaves the Black Maidens firmly in control of the tie as they head into the return leg with confidence and a huge aggregate advantage.
