Asamoah Gyan believes Ghana have the quality to make a strong impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite concerns over the squad’s level of experience.
The former Black Stars captain expressed confidence in the current generation of players as Ghana prepare for their fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Speaking to 3Sports, Gyan praised the emerging talents within the national team setup but admitted experience could still play a crucial role during the competition.
“We have the tools. We have young players coming up. The experience is a bit dicey,” Gyan stated while reflecting on Ghana’s chances at the Mundial.
The Ghana legend, who now serves as Brand Ambassador for Ghana’s national teams and Colts football, also assured the team of his full support ahead of the tournament.
The Black Stars are currently in camp in Cardiff preparing for an international friendly against Wales as head coach Carlos Queiroz continues assessing players ahead of the World Cup.
Several members of the provisional squad, including Jordan Ayew, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Ernest Nuamah, have already joined camp and participated in training sessions.
Ghana will begin their World Cup campaign against Panama before facing tough tests against England and Croatia in Group L.
The Black Stars will be hoping to avoid another early exit after disappointing group-stage eliminations at the 2014 and 2022 editions of the tournament.
