Asante Kotoko have opened investigations into alleged bribery claims involving one of their players ahead of their final Ghana Premier League game against Swedru All Blacks.
The controversy reportedly emerged before Sunday’s fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium after defender Patrick Asiedu allegedly informed club officials that an unidentified Swedru All Blacks supporter had attempted to influence him ahead of the match.
According to reports, the alleged approach was linked to All Blacks’ desperate fight for survival, with the Swedru-based side needing victory to boost their chances of avoiding relegation.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, Kotoko confirmed that the club’s Board and Management held discussions with players and members of the technical team over concerns surrounding the team’s performances during the 2025/26 season.
The meeting also addressed the alleged bribery incident, which the club says has now been handed over for a full internal investigation.
Kotoko praised Patrick Asiedu for promptly reporting the matter through the appropriate channels and stressed that the club remains committed to professionalism, integrity and discipline.
The Porcupine Warriors further warned that any individual found guilty following investigations would face the necessary sanctions.
The incident has added fresh controversy to Kotoko’s disappointing end to the season after the Kumasi giants suffered a 2-1 defeat to Swedru All Blacks at the Baba Yara Stadium.
