Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has penned an emotional farewell message to Leicester City following the completion of his transfer to newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town, bringing an end to a memorable three-year spell at the King Power Stadium.
The 23-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract with Ipswich after leaving Leicester, where he made 100 appearances, scored 16 goals and played a key role in helping the Foxes secure promotion back to the Premier League. Despite suffering successive relegations with the club in the following seasons, Fatawu remained one of Leicester’s standout performers during his time in England.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the Ghanaian thanked everyone associated with the club for believing in him from the moment he arrived.
“This club gave me the opportunity to come to England, prove myself and show what I could do. From the first day, I was welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home. I will always be grateful for the trust, support and belief shown in me,” Fatawu wrote.
The Black Stars winger also paid tribute to his teammates, coaches, staff and supporters, insisting Leicester will always have a special place in his heart.
“To my teammates, coaches and every member of staff, thank you for helping me grow as both a player and a person. To the incredible supporters, your passion, love and encouragement meant more to me than words can express. Leicester City will always hold a special place in my heart. I leave with pride, gratitude and unforgettable memories. Once a Fox, always a Fox.”
