Ghana U20 winger Benjamin Tsivanyo has urged the Black Satellites to put their opening defeat behind them and produce a strong response when they face Burkina Faso in a crucial Group B match at the 2026 WAFU B U20 Championship.
The Black Satellites suffered a 4-2 defeat to defending champions Nigeria in their opening fixture, leaving Maxwell Konadu’s side needing a positive result to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
Despite the setback, Tsivanyo remains confident the team can bounce back.
“We didn’t plan to lose the match against Nigeria but unfortunately it has happened already. It is part of the game. It is how we handle that defeat that matters going forward,” he said.
The winger insisted the players remain upbeat and are fully focused on securing all three points against Burkina Faso.
“Our heads are up, we are not going to give up because we know you can’t win all matches. The defeat tells us that we have more room for improvement.”
Tsivanyo admitted Burkina Faso will pose a difficult challenge but stressed that victory is the only acceptable outcome.
“We know the Burkinabè are really strong. But we’re fully prepared. We have absolutely no choice but to win this game because we need the points.”
A win would revive Ghana’s hopes of progressing from Group B before their final group match against Togo.
