Ghana’s Black Satellites will look to revive their 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship campaign when they take on Burkina Faso in a crucial Group B encounter at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Thursday evening.
Following their 4-2 defeat to defending champions Nigeria in the opening match, Maxwell Konadu’s side heads into the contest knowing that only victory will keep qualification for the semi-finals within reach. The Black Satellites showed encouraging attacking signs against the Flying Eagles but will be eager to tighten up defensively as they chase their first points of the tournament.
Standing in Ghana’s way is a confident Burkina Faso side that opened its campaign with an impressive 3-1 victory over Togo. The Young Stallions are expected to provide another stern test with their physical approach, tactical discipline and high intensity.
The Black Satellites have, however, received a timely boost ahead of the encounter, with Abdul Latif Zakiu and Benjamin Tsivanyo recovering from minor injuries to give Konadu additional options as he looks to reshape his starting lineup.
Although Ghana has already secured qualification for the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations as hosts, the WAFU B Championship remains a vital competition for the technical team to assess the squad, build chemistry and prepare the players for next year’s continental tournament on home soil.
