Black Satellites wrap up preparations for Togo Clash

Ghana’s Black Satellites have completed preparations for their final Group B fixture against Togo at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship, with head coach Maxwell Konadu determined to see his side end the tournament on a positive note.

The team held its final training session on Saturday in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, where Konadu supervised an intensive workout focused on tactical discipline, attacking combinations and finishing ahead of Sunday’s encounter at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.

The Black Satellites are still searching for their first win of the competition after opening with a 4-2 defeat to Nigeria before battling to a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso, despite playing much of the game with ten men.

With qualification to the knockout stage no longer within reach, Konadu is expected to rotate his squad and offer opportunities to players who have featured less during the tournament, while maintaining a competitive approach against Togo.

Although the desired results have not materialised, the WAFU B Championship has provided Ghana with valuable preparation ahead of the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, which the country will host. The tournament has enabled the technical team to evaluate the squad, improve tactical cohesion and continue building a team capable of challenging on home soil next year.
