Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo has officially joined Libyan champions Al-Swehly, bringing an end to his spell in Spanish football and opening a new chapter in North Africa.
The 28-year-old joins the Libyan side as a free agent, signing a three-year contract with an option for an additional year after leaving Spanish club Real Oviedo at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Sibo’s move comes after a proposed transfer to Turkish Super Lig side Gençlerbirligi collapsed at the final stage. Al-Swehly subsequently stepped in with an offer to secure the services of the Ghana international.
The midfielder arrives in Libya after representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in all four of the Black Stars’ matches. He accumulated 249 minutes, including a start in Ghana’s goalless draw against England, while also featuring against Panama, Croatia and Colombia.
Sibo will now turn his attention to continental football as Al-Swehly prepare for their CAF Champions League campaign. The Libyan champions are set to face Zanzibar’s KVZ in the preliminary round as they begin their push for a place in the group stage.
