Coach Charles Sampson Confident Training Ground Work Will Cure Princesses Goal Drought

Black Princesses head coach Charles Sampson has revealed that his technical team has placed intense focus on finishing in training as Ghana prepares for a make-or-break U-20 Women’s World Cup clash against South Korea.

The West Africans are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-0 blanking at the hands of Ecuador in their Group C opener in Poland, a match that exposed their struggles in the final third.

Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s crucial encounter, Sampson emphasized that building clinical execution and composure in front of goal has been the cornerstone of their preparations.

“We have always been good to go. We work on the last third all the time, we just need to give them more confidence in it,” Sampson said.

“That’s why we train them every day in it to score more goals and get confident, and that’s what we’ve done today.”

With zero margin for error as they chase their first points of the tournament, the Black Princesses know that translating their training ground sharpness into competitive goals will be vital to keeping their knockout-stage aspirations alive against the East Asians.
