Medeama SC have intensified preparations for their CAF Champions League second-leg encounter with TP Mazembe after completing their opening training session in Lubumbashi.
The Ghana Premier League champions arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Wednesday and wasted little time getting down to work as they prepare for Saturday’s decisive fixture.
The Tarkwa-based side goes into the return leg trailing 1-0 following Mazembe’s narrow victory at the TNA Stadium in the first meeting between the two sides.
Medeama must therefore produce a strong away performance at the 18,000-seater Stade TP Mazembe, where they will be required to overturn the first-leg setback if they are to progress in the competition.
A two-goal victory would guarantee qualification for the Ghanaian champions, making the encounter a major test of their character and continental ambitions.
The team has also received a financial boost ahead of the crucial assignment, with President John Dramani Mahama presenting the club with $30,000 during their visit to Jubilee House on Tuesday.
With their Champions League hopes on the line, Medeama will be aiming for a composed and determined display in Lubumbashi as they seek to complete a comeback and extend their journey on the continent.
The return fixture will be played on Saturday, September 12.
