Philip Amoh Set for Five-Month Absence After Suffering Injury Against Heart of Lions

Asante Kotoko attacker Philip Amoh is reportedly facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a serious injury during his side’s Ghana Premier League Week 2 clash with Heart of Lions.

Amoh came on as a substitute for Eric Gbeta as his team looked to change the course of the game. However, his involvement lasted only a short period after he was caught up in a heavy challenge with a Heart of Lions player.

The impact of the challenge left the attacker unable to continue, forcing him to leave the pitch as concerns grew over the seriousness of the injury.

Following further assessment, Amoh is reportedly expected to spend approximately five months recovering before he can return to competitive action.

The setback could keep the youngster out for a substantial part of the current campaign and may also affect his availability at the beginning of the 2026/27 season, depending on how his rehabilitation progresses.

The injury is particularly disappointing given Amoh’s encouraging performances during pre-season. The attacker found the net twice during his club’s preparations and had begun to emerge as a player capable of making a significant contribution to the team.

His pre-season form had also raised expectations among supporters, who were looking forward to seeing more of the attacker during the campaign. His pace, attacking qualities and ability to contribute goals had made him one of the players attracting attention ahead of the new season.
