Carlos Queiroz has reshuffled his Black Stars squad by bringing in nine additional players ahead of Ghana’s busy international schedule.
The new faces have been drafted in for the upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as the friendly meeting with Morocco in October.
The changes became necessary after Mohammed Kudus, Nathaniel Adjei and Prince Kwabena Adu withdrew from the original squad, with the Ghana Football Association citing medical concerns surrounding some of the players.
Four defenders have been added to strengthen the backline, with VfL Wolfsburg’s Jonas Adjetey, OGC Nice defender Alidu Seidu, Ebenezer Annan of Rapid Bucharest and Osasuna’s Rockson Yeboah receiving invitations.
Midfield has also been reinforced through the inclusion of Slovan Bratislava midfielder Rahim Ibrahim.
Queiroz has further expanded his attacking options by calling up Coventry City striker Brandon Thomas-Asante, Derby County forward Mohammed Fuseini, Kalba attacker Benjamin Tetteh and Igdir FK forward Felix Afena-Gyan.
The Black Stars opened camp in Accra on Monday, September 21, as preparations got underway for the two AFCON qualifiers and the subsequent friendly.
Ghana will first travel to Bouaké to take on Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, September 24, before returning home to face The Gambia three days later.
The team will then switch attention to their international friendly against Morocco, scheduled for October 4.
The additional call-ups provide Queiroz with a larger pool of players to work with as he continues to assess his options and shape a squad for the challenges ahead.
Ghana, who failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, will be looking to make a strong start to their 2027 qualifying campaign when they face Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday.
Preparations will continue on Tuesday as the Black Stars step up their work ahead of the trip to Bouaké.
