Black Maidens Finalise Squad for Morocco U-17 Women’s World Cup

Ghana will head to Morocco with a 21-player squad selected by head coach Nana Joe Adarkwa for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, with the Black Maidens set to face Brazil, Canada and Norway in Group C.

One of the notable developments is the return of Jessica Appiah, alongside the inclusion of Christiana Ashiaku, Mavis Koah and Belinda Kpentey, who have earned promotion from Ghana’s U-15 team.

Adarkwa has selected three goalkeepers: Belinda Maku Aklie, Rahima A. Napari and Josephine Nyanufule. The defensive department features Matilda A. B. Amoah, Hajara Adam, Latifa Musah, Rafia Osman, Juliana Gyekyewaa, Seraphina E. Esse and Mavis Koah.

Ghana’s midfield options include Belinda Kpentey, Christiana Ashiaku, Benedicta D. Nkietah, Seidatu Wahab, Zeinab Shani and Sekinatu Amadu. Up front, the responsibility for providing goals will rest with Priscilla Mensah, Linda Achiaa, Jessica A. Asamoah, Cynthia Obinsrewuo and Gloria A. Adomako.

The Black Maidens have been preparing through international friendly matches, suffering a 3-0 defeat to China before responding with a 2-1 comeback victory over Kenya. Those outings have offered the technical team further opportunities to assess the squad ahead of the tournament.

Ghana’s first test will be against Norway on October 18, before they take on Brazil and Canada in what promises to be a demanding group campaign. The team will be hoping to translate its preparations into positive results as the competition gets underway in Morocco.
