English-born forward Daniel Agyei has shared his excitement after receiving his first-ever call-up to the Ghana national football team, describing the moment as a dream come true.
The 28-year-old, who plays for Kocaelispor, is one of four new faces named in Otto Addo’s squad for upcoming international friendlies against Austria national football team and Germany national football team.
Reacting to the call-up, Agyei could not hide his pride at the opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage.
“It’s a massive honour to be called up to the Ghana national team. As a player, you always dream of representing your country at this level,” he said.
“To finally get the opportunity means everything to me, and I’m ready to give my all for the shirt.”
Agyei’s selection follows a steady campaign in Turkey, where he has impressed with his performances and contributed important goals for his club.
His journey has seen him rise through the English football system, featuring for sides such as Burnley FC, Leyton Orient FC, Crewe Alexandra FC and Oxford United FC before making the move abroad.
Comfortable playing both as a striker and out wide, Agyei brings added flexibility to Ghana’s attack as the team continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana will take on Austria in Vienna on March 27 before facing Germany three days later, with both matches serving as key tests ahead of the World Cup.
