Midfielder Hubert Gyau(20) has been in impressive form for Asante Kotoko, attracting transfer speculation linking him with several clubs.
The former Berekum Chelsea player recently changed representation, signing with South Africa–based agency Pro Sports. However, his agent, Mikaab, has firmly dismissed claims that Kaizer Chiefs or any other club has made an official approach for the midfielder.
Speaking in an interview cited by Soccer Laduma, Mikaab explained that there has been no direct contact regarding Gyau since the agency recently signed him.
🗣️ “Firstly, let me say this honestly—we have had no approach from any football club regarding Hubert at the moment. We have just signed the player, so I cannot confirm whether the story is correct or not,” he said.
Mikaab added that if there has been any interest, it would likely have occurred at club-to-club level, something he says he cannot verify since he does not represent either club involved.
🗣️ “If there is interest, then possibly Chiefs may have spoken to Kotoko, but I can’t verify that. We’ve just signed the player, and we don’t operate in a way where we sign a player today and immediately start marketing him,” he added.
Gyau has enjoyed a strong start to life at Asante Kotoko, scoring four goals so far this season. He is expected to be part of the squad when the Porcupine Warriors travel away to face Young Apostles this weekend.
