Former Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has strongly criticised the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for overturning the result of the Africa Cup of Nations final.
CAF’s Appeals Board recently stripped Senegal national football team of their title and awarded a 3-0 victory to Morocco national football team, a decision that has sparked widespread debate.
Reacting to the ruling, Nyantakyi described it as a major threat to the credibility of African football.
“We woke up to a decision that has rippled across the continent, igniting debate and raising eyebrows,” he said.
He warned that overturning a completed match result sets a worrying standard for future cases.
“It is a dangerous precedent that threatens the integrity of the game,” Nyantakyi stressed.
The former football administrator believes such decisions could weaken trust in CAF’s governance and damage the image of the sport across the continent.
