Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has credited Manchester City’s intense work ethic and sharp focus for helping him thrive following another decisive contribution in the Premier League title race.
The forward struck just before the interval at Elland Road, calmly finishing to hand City a hard-earned victory over Leeds United. The goal marked his fourth in seven league appearances since arriving at the Etihad during the winter transfer window, underlining his immediate impact.
Semenyo has now taken his Premier League tally to 14 goals this season, but beyond the numbers, he highlighted the culture within Pep Guardiola’s squad as the key factor behind his seamless adaptation.
According to the 25-year-old, the difference is evident on the training pitch.
“You can see it every day,” he explained after the match. “The small details in training — simple passing drills, possession work — everyone approaches it with total concentration. Nothing is taken lightly.
“When that standard is set during the week, it naturally carries into matches. The mentality shift is huge. Everyone wants to win and makes sure they’re physically and mentally ready.”
City’s victory reduced the gap at the top of the table to just two points, increasing the pressure on leaders Arsenal ahead of their clash with Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.
Despite the tightening race, Semenyo insists City’s focus remains internal.
“Our job is to win our games,” he added. “What Arsenal do is out of our hands. We have to stay locked in and control what we can control.”
With momentum building and Semenyo finding form at a crucial stage of the campaign, City remain firmly in the hunt as the title battle intensifies.
