Benjamin Asare says outside criticism will not distract him as he continues preparing for a possible appearance with the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Hearts of Oak goalkeeper has emerged as Ghana’s preferred first-choice shot-stopper ahead of the tournament and is expected to play a key role when the Black Stars face Panama, England and Croatia in Group L.
Speaking to 3Sports, Asare admitted that public scrutiny is part of football, especially when playing at the highest level.
“They say it always, but it’s their opinion. The moment you reach this level, people will say a lot of things,” he said.
The goalkeeper explained that criticism has never affected his confidence and instead serves as extra motivation to keep improving his game.
“No, it doesn’t bother me; it rather encourages me because not everyone makes it to this level,” he added.
Asare has enjoyed an impressive rise with Hearts of Oak and now appears set for the biggest challenge of his career on the international stage.
