Ghana’s Black Satellites showed character and determination to fight back from a goal down and earn a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso in their second Group B match at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
Needing a positive response after their opening defeat to Nigeria, Maxwell Konadu’s side produced a much-improved performance, with Joseph Badu finding the equaliser to rescue a valuable point at the Lycée Scientifique Stadium.
The result moves Ghana onto one point from two matches, leaving the Black Satellites third in Group B and setting up a decisive final group fixture against Togo, where victory will be essential to keep their hopes of progressing alive.
Despite already securing automatic qualification for the 2027 CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations as tournament hosts, the WAFU B Championship remains a vital platform for Ghana’s young talents to gain valuable competitive experience and continue building chemistry under the technical team.
The Black Satellites will now shift their full attention to the clash with Togo, determined to finish the group stage strongly and continue their preparations ahead of hosting Africa’s premier youth tournament next year.
