Black Stars Begin Training in Mexico Ahead of World Cup Friendly

Ghana have officially begun preparations in Puebla ahead of Friday’s international friendly against Mexico.

The Black Stars arrived in North America on Sunday as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across Mexico, Canada and the United States next month.

Coach Carlos Queiroz supervised the team’s first training sessions in Puebla as preparations intensified for the high-profile pre-World Cup encounter scheduled for May 22.

Training is expected to continue over the next two days, with the technical team focusing on tactical work, fitness levels and player assessment ahead of the tournament.

The friendly against Mexico is also expected to play a major role in shaping Ghana’s final World Cup squad, with several players battling for places ahead of the official announcement.

The match will provide an opportunity for emerging talents and fringe players to impress the technical team as competition for spots within both the Black Stars and Black Meteors setup continues.

Ghana are expected to use the encounter as a key test as preparations gather momentum ahead of their World Cup campaign.
