Black Stars Set to Leave Accra for Côte d’Ivoire Ahead of AFCON Qualifier

The Black Stars are scheduled to leave Accra on Wednesday morning for Côte d’Ivoire as they begin the final phase of preparations for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Group C qualifier against the Elephants.

Ghana will travel to Bouaké for the crucial encounter, which is scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, as Carlos Queiroz’s side prepares to open its qualifying campaign.

According to the Ghana Football Association, the team has been in camp in Accra since Monday and has continued its preparations with training sessions at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Eighteen players participated in Tuesday’s training session as the technical team intensified preparations ahead of the trip to Côte d’Ivoire.

The Black Stars are expected to have another opportunity to work on their plans after arriving in Bouaké, with the technical team scheduled to oversee a final training session on Wednesday before Thursday’s match.

Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia and Somalia, with the Black Stars hoping to secure a positive result away from home to make a strong start to their qualification campaign.

The encounter will be Ghana’s first competitive assignment under Carlos Queiroz since his return to the Black Stars, with the Portuguese coach looking to guide the team back to the Africa Cup of Nations after Ghana missed the 2025 edition.

The Black Stars will be hoping to return from Bouaké with a result before hosting The Gambia in their second Group C fixture on September 29.
