Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has insisted Ghana remain fully focused on making a deep run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite their narrow defeat to Croatia in the final Group L fixture.
The Coventry City striker believes the loss in Philadelphia has done little to dampen the confidence and ambition within the squad, with the Black Stars now preparing for a Round of 32 showdown against Colombia.
Speaking after the 2-1 defeat, Thomas-Asante highlighted the determination that continues to drive the players.
“There is a lot of ambition and hunger within the team. We want to make a name for ourselves as a nation and keep that legacy going,” he said.
Ghana advanced to the knockout stage with four points after opening the tournament with a win over Panama, holding England to a goalless draw before falling narrowly to Croatia.
Thomas-Asante’s comments reflect the positive mood within the camp as the Black Stars look to put the group-stage defeat behind them and focus on the challenges ahead.
Defender Derrick Luckassen also echoed that belief, urging the squad to stay united and continue giving everything for the country as they chase World Cup success.
The Black Stars will now face unbeaten Group K winners Colombia in Kansas City on July 4, with a place in the Round of 16 at stake.
