Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC will team up to represent Ghana at the 2024 Capital City Africa Cup in Washington, DC, according to GSN.
The two clubs will combine their players to form one squad for the international friendly against Major League Soccer (MLS) side DC United.
This highly anticipated match is scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Audi Field in Washington, DC.
The ceremonial match, organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is part of the larger Ghana Week DC 2024 celebration, which highlights Ghanaian culture and heritage in the United States.
Ghana Week DC 2024 will take place from October 7-12, with this fixture serving as a key event.
Initially, Kotoko were supposed to be the sole team to face DC United, but visa issues prevented most of their players from securing entry into the US.
Medeama, having participated in the same ceremonial game last year and possessing players with valid US visas, has stepped in to bolster the squad.
The combined Kotoko-Medeama team is set to depart for the USA on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, to prepare for the high-profile encounter.
