Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, are set to receive a massive financial boost after securing qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup following FIFA’s latest announcement on increased financial distribution for participating countries.
In a media release issued after the 76th FIFA Congress meeting in Vancouver, Canada.
FIFA confirmed that the total financial package for all 48 participating nations has been increased to USD 871 million.
According to FIFA’s financial breakdown, each qualified country will receive:
USD 2.5 million as preparation money
USD 10 million as qualification money
This means Ghana will earn a total of USD 12.5 million for qualifying to the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup.
FIFA stated that the increase follows the commercial success of the tournament, with the governing body approving a further 15% rise in the resources allocated to participating member associations.
In addition to the qualification and preparation funds, FIFA also announced extra subsidies for team delegation expenses and increased ticket allocations, with those contributions exceeding USD 16 million.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be the first edition of the tournament to feature 48 nations.
Ghana secured qualification after finishing top of their qualifying group ahead of Comoros, Mali, Central African Republic, Madagascar, and Chad.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group F for the World Cup, where they will face England, Croctia, and Panama in what promises to be a thrilling group-stage battle.
