Caleb Yirenkyi earns Golden Boy nomination alongside world’s top young stars

Black Stars midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi has received one of the biggest individual recognitions of his career after being nominated for the 2026 Golden Boy Award.

The FC Nordsjaelland youngster is among the nominees for the prestigious accolade presented annually by Italian newspaper Tuttosport to the best Under-21 footballer playing in Europe.

Yirenkyi’s nomination follows an impressive year in which the Ghanaian continued to establish himself as one of the Danish Superliga’s most exciting midfield prospects while also making his mark on the international stage.

The 20-year-old joins an elite field of young talents that includes Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal, Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi and several of Europe’s most highly rated prospects.

His inclusion is another major boost for Ghanaian football, reflecting his rapid rise and growing reputation as one of the country’s brightest young players.

Yirenkyi has enjoyed a breakthrough spell with FC Nordsjaelland, earning praise for his composure in possession, tactical intelligence and ability to dictate the tempo from midfield.

With months still remaining before the final winner is announced, Yirenkyi will be hoping to continue his impressive form at club and international level as he seeks to strengthen his case for one of football’s most coveted youth awards.
