Christiana Ashiaku Wins Player of the Tournament as Ghana Retain African Schools Title

Christiana Ashiaku has been named Player of the Tournament following her outstanding performances for Ghana Black Damsels at the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship in Harare.

The Black Damsels were crowned champions after a dramatic 10-9 penalty shootout victory over Burkina Faso, following a goalless draw in the final.

Ashiaku played a key role in Ghana’s successful campaign, scoring two goals in five matches while consistently delivering in crucial moments. Beyond her goal contributions, she was instrumental in the team’s attacking play, linking up effectively with teammates and creating chances in the final third.

Her composure, intelligent movement, and relentless work rate stood out throughout the competition, helping Ghana navigate a challenging path to retain their title.

The individual accolade caps a remarkable tournament for the young forward and highlights her emergence as one of the brightest prospects in Ghana’s women’s football.
