Former Ghana midfielder Derek Boateng believes the Black Stars must adopt a different tactical approach when they face England in their second Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Panama thanks to Caleb Yirenkyi’s late winner, Ghana now face a much sterner challenge against an England side that opened their campaign with a convincing 4-2 win over Croatia.
Speaking to GTV Sports Plus, Boateng warned that England possess a different profile of players and will ask far more questions of Ghana than Panama did.
“The England game is going to be different. They are going to press us more because they have different types of players. They are not just going to keep the ball; they are going to press us, create chances and they have players who can finish,” Boateng said.
The Ex-Black Stars midfielder urged The technical team to review their performance against Panama, correct their mistakes and prepare thoroughly for what could be a decisive Group L encounter.
With both teams sitting on three points, victory on Monday would put either side in a commanding position to qualify for the knockout stages.
