Black Queens midfielder Evelyn Badu says Ghana are fully focused on Sunday’s crucial 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) clash against Cameroon, insisting the team is determined to move one step closer to qualification for the knockout stage.
The Black Queens head into the encounter after opening their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Cape Verde, and Badu believes the squad has put past performances behind them to concentrate solely on the task ahead.
“We’re focused on tomorrow’s game against Cameroon. What happened before is already in the past. We’re just taking it one game at a time. Our goal is to put ourselves in a good position to reach the quarterfinals,” she said.
The midfielder also stressed that representing Ghana remains a privilege and says the players are united in their ambition to help the Black Queens secure a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
“I’m here to represent the country and the team—not for individual honour or glory, but to achieve why we’re here, which is the World Cup,” Badu added.
Victory over Cameroon would leave Ghana in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage as the Black Queens continue their quest for continental success and a return to the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
