Eric Bekoe, a former Asante Kotoko striker, has been named the assistant coach for the newly established national U-19 male team.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced this appointment, with Bekoe set to support the experienced Abdul Karim Zito.
Bekoe, aged 37, ventured into coaching some years ago and took on the role of head coach for Division Two side Montreal United FC in 2021.
The GFA highlighted Bekoe’s expertise and positive demeanour, emphasizing how it will complement Zito’s leadership.
This move reflects the GFA’s strategy of fostering a developmental pathway for young Ghanaian players.
Zito, known for his tactical prowess and extensive experience, has a track record of success, including winning the U20 WAFU Championship in 2020 and the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
Currently coaching Dreams FC, Zito’s appointment aims to cultivate young talent and instil a culture of sustained excellence across all national teams.
With previous stints as head coach for the national U-15 and U-17 teams, Zito brings a deep understanding of youth football development to his new role.
