The Black Stars have moved 4 places up on the latest FIFA rankings, rising from 68th to 64th.
Despite this improvement, they remain outside the top 10 teams in Africa.
Otto Addo’s squad dropped one place in the FIFA rankings released in April, following their failure to win any international friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda in March.
However, Ghana bounced back during the June international break with crucial victories against Mali and the Central African Republic (CAR). These wins have significantly boosted their World Cup qualification prospects, placing them joint-top of Group I alongside Comoros with nine points each.
These successes have positively influenced Ghana’s standing in the June FIFA rankings, elevating them to the 64th position globally. Within Africa, Morocco continues to lead as the highest-ranked team, followed by Senegal and Egypt.
Ivory Coast, winners of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), holds the fourth position, while Nigeria, who dropped eight places after poor results against South Africa and Benin in the World Cup qualifiers, are now fifth. The top 10 African teams are rounded out by Tunisia, Algeria, Cameroon, Mali and south Africa.
On the global stage, world champions Argentina have maintained their position at number one, with France and Belgium occupying the second and third spots, respectively. Brazil is fourth, England fifth, Portugal sixth, the Netherlands seventh, Spain eighth, Croatia ninth, and Italy completes the top ten.
